A root canal is a dental procedure that repairs an inflamed or infected nerve. During this procedure, the nerve or pulpal tissue is cleaned out and then the pulp chamber is filled and sealed with a biocompatible material. In the past, if you had a tooth with a diseased nerve, you’d probably lose that tooth. Today, with a special dental procedure called root canal treatment, you may save that tooth.
